![]() Another place where uranium is fissioned with fast neutrons, is in a nuclear reactor producing plutonium. In case your knowledge of nuclear physics is rusty, this process is used in a Teller-Ulam device, known to the public as the hydrogen bomb. In case you didn't catch it, the translation is: "another isotope which should be present if excess Xe-129 was natural is not there, so we think it's hiding somewhere." The reason this is important, is that another process which is known to produce excess amounts of Xe-129 is fission of uranium with 14MeV neutrons produced by D+T fusion. Models suggesting that Pu–Xe is actually present but concealed, and their status from the perspective of the meteorite and SAM data in Tables 2 and 4, are discussed in Appendix A5. 1 and 3, yet in none of these data sets are there discernable elevations of heavy isotope ratios that would signal the existence of a 244Pu fission Xe component expected to accompany outgassed radiogenic 129Xe (Swindle and Jones, 1997). Mars’ atmosphere is notable for the large 129Xe excess displayed by the SAM and shergottite glass measurements in Figs. ![]() ![]() al., In situ measurement of atmospheric krypton and xenon on Mars with Mars Science Laboratory, Earth and Planetary Science Letters Volume 454, 15 November 2016, Pages 1-9 (peer reviewed): Natural origin of Xe anomaly due to outgassing has been found to be impossible, and people are resorting to voodoo science to explain the anomaly. Xe and Kr are noble gases, so their stable isotopes will stay in the atmosphere forever once produced. Otherwise, it would have been laughed off as satire.Ĭoncerning Xe-129 excess, this was first reported in Owen et.al., The atmosphere of Mars: detection of krypton and xenon. Obviously, a large enough segment of the public believed that the Mars is inhabited to find the report credible. ![]() Welles caused a mass panic by saying that US was being attacked by Martians. Presence of artificial - looking features on the surfaceįor the first point, simply consider the Orson Welles' War of the Worlds Broadcast. Presence of isotopic anomalies, notably huge excess of Xe-129 Historical belief that Mars is inhabited which persisted until about 1970 (Mariner 9 mission) There are many odd things about Mars, but let us focus on four of them: ![]()
